Artist Statement


My hybridized practice is founded in exploring the possibilities of image making on a two-dimensional surface. Whether a forgotten scrap of paper or a multiple wall installation, I seek to synthesize the practices of drawing, painting, collage, and mixed media. The exploration of unexpected interactions of material and image is the consistent motive behind my creative process. The resulting image hopes to evoke a visceral experience that engages the viewer's imagination.

Dominant themes are those of impermanence of our world and it’s environment and the exploration of how our realities of physical and spiritual existence impact or are affected by the global climate. I am interested in all that lies beneath the surface of a regular object, person, or landscape, often representing what can be felt, but seldom seen or touched.
